Post subject:  [SPOILERS!] The Hobbit: AUJ Soundtrack Variants

I think I amused some people in my enthusiasm for the Special Edition or Deluxe Edition (I really hate the Deluxe word - so 1960's... :-X ). Anyway, I had seen references to the UK only getting a single CD version of the soundtrack wheras North America was getting the 2 CD version. So when I spotted the 2 CD version on preorder in UK I went for it.
But as it happens, the cheaper version in the UK also has 2 CD's. So what is the difference, apart from the price? Special version or D-word versions have more tracks and some of the common tracks come as extended versions plus you get more notes in the packaging. This is summarised below (edited by MacG: just click to see the list... mild spoilers ahead):

Do we have a date of release? I want this.

PS. I added [spoilers!] to your topic name Dorth. The tracks might give some clues for whats going to happen in the movie.

True, and I'm sure all of us know the story upside down, but the movies are a different beast and there might be people that like to be surprised.

Everytime the dwarves start singing I get the chills! So good. :D

Its only a month away and this just got me really excited to watch the movie! Can't wait!

And it gets better. The songs are available to listen to on Youtube so if you have a favorite you can listen to it over and over without having to rerun the entire soundtrack. Howard Shore has used LotR themes and woven the new dwarven ones in and around them - the man is a genius.
Roll on 14th December.

Really loving the new sound track samples. It does a great job pulling in the LotR flavor while generating new thematic tones. And as others have said the Dwarf singing is great.

I didn’t mind looking at the track list. I know the Hobbit and most LotR back story well enough that it’s not revealing any surprises. The one new thing you can glean from it though is a likely point where the first film will end. If so it’s about where many of us had predicted once they announced the trilogy format anyway. There aren't that many choices of course so still not a major surprise.

I was disappointed not to see the goblins singing though. ‘Down to Goblin Town’ or ‘Fifteen birds’ would have been a very interesting inclusion. :-)
