I was thinking about starting up a newsletter for the hobby. I just dropped out of Uni for health reasons and I really need something to do. I think that this will be a good use of some of my free time and it would be good for the hobby.
I would like to include pictures, new, tournament information and possibly interviews and stuff like that. The problem I have is I can't think of a way of collecting all this stuff in an efficient manner. Maybe this thread could be used for people to post stuff they would like to be included?
I would be sending the newsletter out by email so I'll need to set that up but I'm pretty tech savvy so that shouldn't be a problem.
Any suggestions at this point would be great and after I've got a format sorted I can start collecting content.
Thanks for reading and I hope people get on board.

I'm a member of an iOS development newsletter that gets sent out weekly by email. It's quite literally just a list of interesting links and articles that have been published that week.
Best way to collect is either a thread like this or just setting up a separate email account for folk to email you tips and articles.
Think it'll be quite a good idea - if you don't get chance to visit forums etc it'll be a good way to catch up.
Take a look at MailChimp or Campaign Monitor for actually sending the emails, and drop me a PM if you need a hand with any of it. Got quite a bit of experience with email marketing.

First things first, I am sorry to hear about your dropping out - I hope the health issues aren't too serious!
Secondly I think this is a great idea, although I'd suggest to post it here on One Ring as well as e-mail it just so new people/more people are alerted to it. Try and get peeople to write articles for you if you can - that's give the newsletter more substance and chunkiness. Good luck and I hope everything gets better soon.
