This seemed to be the best place to put this, seeing as how it relates to trading. Mods, please shift it if I was mistaken.

Has anyone noticed a growing delay in how often GW restock independent retailers over the last year or so? I've two orders currently sitting on waiting, one with Wayland games and one with Total Wargamer. Both are pretty large and well known Independents in the UK scene, and whilst both can be a pain for getting small trade items in they're usually very good with getting GW products in stock and shipped lightning fast.

I ordered a Hobbit paint set recently during the Total Wargamer 30% off weekend, and a box of Grimhammers from Wayland games. Nothing too difficult or strenuous to get hold of, right?

The TW order is now 9 days old, and recent contact says they're still waiting on GW to fulfill a recent stock order that has been delayed several weeks, and they're expecting it next week.

The Wayland Games order is now 17 days old, and helpdesk contact says they're also waiting on a GW restock that is overdue and they don't expect it until next week either.

Is this a trend since the change of the Independent ToS earlier in the year or something? It's not often I buy new from GW, though I'm making a decision to back the new Hobbit range which I think has been excellent quality, yet they seem to be making it difficult for me to actually get hold of the stuff!

I personally have had no trouble whatsoever ordering and restocking with gw recently, i generally have a 5working days turn around from a customer ordering to receiving their products. I hope everything works out ok, it does sound a little wierd.

Haven't used Wayland for a long time but Total Wargamer are notorious for taking an age to fulfill orders. Last time I used them I waited 6 weeks or so and then cancelled the order.

I would bet it has more to do with them having large web stores and only being able to order a certain amount of product at a time. At least I think GW out in a quantity restriction at some point.

The restrictions are only on direct only models, boxsets like grimhammers and paintsets should be dispatched the next day with no limitations and no minimum spend.

There are two companies involved in this equation, and you are only taking one of them into consideration! You may find that the issue is not with G.W. but cash flow with the guys your ordering it from?

Thanks for the answers all.

Yeah I agree with this about TW for getting lesser known products, I've never used them for getting stuff that wasn't from a big manufacturer. However, getting Warmachine/Flames of War/GW from them is usually quick, painless, and lightning fast.

That's why I've posted this thread to see if it was a reoccurring theme, these sort of sets are pretty much always posted out the next day.

I'd be really surprised if it was the case that two of the biggest independent online retailers in the UK both happened to have cashflow problems at the exact same time with the exact same provider, especially this close to Christmas which is when all of these retailers are generally expanding their stock.

That's a coincidence too far for me, hence the logical reason is something funny is happening at GW dispatch towers.

Especially since both companies blamed GW's late dispatch in their helpdesk tickets.

Chris C,

I'm very sorry but we are still awaiting the GW restock that will allow us to complete your order.

It has been outstanding for quite a while now so it should not be too much longer.

If you agree a little while longer you need take no further action.

If you do not wish to wait any longer please let us know.

Again, very sorry for the delay.

Hi Chris,

I apologise for the delay to your order.
We are still waiting for our delivery from games Workshop.
The Games Workshop delivery is due to arrive in the next few days.
Once these have arrived your order will be shipped as soon as possible.
If you do not wish to wait for any of these items to arrive we can remove them from your order and issue you with a refund or store credit voucher for their value.
Please contact us again if you would like either of these options to be actioned.

Kind Regards
Jake

I've deleted a few personal details from the tickets and snipped the irrelevant parts. Both of these clearly implicate GW being late though.

Dark sphere is the most reliable but i haven't personally had any personal problems with total wargamer.

I have bought many items off Total Wargamer and their sister site Mythreal - Bolt Action, Plastic Soldier Company and GW. The only delays were with some items gone out of stock and the delivery note always listed these, and they arrived within a couple of weeks thereafter. I have never used Wayland, but have dealt with Triple Helix, Gaming Figures, Plastic Soldier Company itself and others like Hasslefree, Antenociti, Ebob - I have had no issues in a long time (other than my very first internet order for LotR stuff about 8 years ago with battlegamesbymail).

Hmm, I placed an order with TW a week ago and have had no correspondence from them to expect a delay. This isn't very encouraging news. I have never used them before and only did so to take advantage of their 30℅ discount weekend. I'll chase it up if it doesn't arrive next week.

Cancelled the TW order, 14 day wait for dispatch of a Hobbit paint set was ridiculous.

Walked into town and bought one direct from the store.

Just an update on my Total Wargamer order. After four months of them fobbing me off I have demanded a refund within 7 days. If not I will initiate a chargeback and report them to Trading Standards. JT will be getting the order now once the money is refunded one way or the other. Don't be tempted by their 30% discount. As the old proverb says, if it sounds too good to be true, then it usually is.

Spent £80 Christmas money there year before last and never got my things, my parents weren't very "email smart" so I never got a refund or any models was furious but really with it being couple of years back I was bit more of an idiot and thought they would come eventually and the excuses were the same until no reply... Don't use them SIMPLES
