Hey guys,

I was painting Dying Boromir and wanted to move on to the living version when I noticed that that Boromir doesn't have a cloak. This left me wondering: why doesn't he have a cloak and is there ever a movie scene where he isn't wearing one? Or is this just a sculpting 'mistake'?

I can explain(big fan of Boromir). When he arrives at Rivendell, he is wearing a cloak. This is a red cloak in the movie (I can't recall if he had a cloak at this time in the book) and this cloak can be seen on the mounted Boromir miniature.

When he leaves Rivendell with the Fellowship, he leaves without his red cloak. Later, when he goes to Lothlorien, he and the rest of the Fellowship get cloaks gifted to them by Galadriel. So therefore, in the later sculpted miniatures of Boromir (I think there's only one or two) he has a cloak then also. In the standard Boromir miniature, the one holding his horn up, that is representing him in the Fellowship.

I hope this has answered your question :-)

Not entirely, because he wears a cloak when walking over the mountains, and he wears a cloak in moria. :p Which means we probably have about 1 or 2 scenes that feature a cloakless Boromir in a 3-hour movie. Strange choice on GW's part. What confused me more is the fact he's blowing his horn, which he's seen doing at Amon-hen, where he DOES have a cloak.

Thanks though!

Ah, I've just realised my mistake. He has a black cloak when leaving Rivendell, but arriving he has a red/brown one.

During the time he travels to Moria and leaving Rivendell, he has that black one. He discards it in Balin's tomb I think, but it's not entirely clear.

When he's blowing his horn at Amon-Hen, that's the cloak gifted to him by Galadriel :galadriel: That's a green/grey coloured one.

Games Workshop may have not added the cloak because there was a miniature of him produced with a cloak, and gamers could sculpt their own cloak on if they wished.
