My girlfriend called me in town earlier and asked if I wanted anything and I saw it as a great opportunity to get her to go into games workshop and get the models I've been struggling to pick up on ebay. I text her some specific instructions, as surely the advantage of going into a store, particularly for blister models like sons of eorl or mounted rohan royal guard, is that you can get the poses you want. I wanted two different sons of eorl poses, plus two different spear poses with RRG. She returned with an internet invoice/receipt! They didn't stock those models but only ordered them in... is this normal? I might as well have ordered online! They also let her know this would mean that the poses would be random, but said we could always contact customer service and ask nicely. Well, I've done this but has anyone ever had experience of this and managed it successfully?? Interested to know |

Yep, I do this all the time. Quite handy for those who aren't keen on buying online. They used to stock the warrior blister packs, but nowadays it's just the FineCast packs, and even then not all of them. In the end it comes down to shelf space, and a lack of major interest in LOTR until the Hobbit revival. Random poses is a bit of a pain, but you'd find that even if the packs were on the shelves really. |

But at least on the shelves you can see into the blister and get an idea that you're getting a different pose right? Well, keeping fingers crossed! Hope the message to customer services achieves something! |

Yeh I kept getting the wrong rohan banner so I had to return them each time. I phoned customer service and told them to sort it out. The guy personally went out into the depot to get the right one and got it sent. |

I ordered 10 rohan banners on the internet and low and behold got 0 10 identical poses. Returned 9 of them to store and ordered 9 more - got the other variant second time round....crazy!! |

Good news that customer service will change them if asked, I've emailed them with my order number immediately in the hope I can pre-empt it and get the poses I'm after, or at least, different poses! |

The poses is probably due to packing. They'll pack all the blisters using whatever minis have come out of the moulds and if each production mould contains just 1 pose (which for GW, I am assuming would probably be right?) then it will happen. GW Stores can only contain 1/3 of the entire GW range, that's just down to space, how much storing an unsold blister pack is actually quite surprising. As for ordering in store, it helps your local shop and it guarantees you your product. |

I rang up and ordered the Rohan Banner foot and mounted about a year ago specifically after the foot model that matched the mounted model. When I asked if I could specify which model I'd get he said (in a perfectly friendly manner) that they couldn't as the guys who packed the models weren't hobbyists. Got the one I wanted though! I miss the Trolls Ah the days of spending hours pouring over the catalogues from the 80s and 90s deciding you wanted the chassis from the Wood Elf Attack Chariot and the yoke from the metal High Elf Tiranoc chariot and some of the new plastic Wood Elf horses and it'd all turn up in one shiny package. Good times. |
