I have just started painting up a Dol Amroth army and have just realised there are no bowmen or missile armed troops available for them.. they don't look the easiest miniatures to convert either - anybody got ant ideas for conversions or alternative miniatures i could use to represent them ... help appreciated.
Cheers DMS

I don't really play either SBG or WOTR yet, I just paint and collect - will get into the gaming side of things if i ever manage to put my brush down for longer than five minutes. I just wanted to try to add some bowmen to my Dol Amroth army with similar armour etc to the swan knights.

Traditionally, medieval knights wouldn't use a bow, they considered it to be too "common" a weapon. Personally, I'd apply the same principle to Dol Amroth knights. However, there's no reason why Dol Amroth men-at-arms couldn't have a bow, at it would be probably be a bit easier to convert.

You could use Numenorian bowmen

Numenorian Bowmen could work quite well actually if you just painted them in the traditional Dol-Amroth colours.

This might sound a bit far fetched and i haven't seriously checked it out but.... what about the bottom half of dol amroth foot knight - the upper torso of a warrior of minas tirith bowman with a dol amroth head swap, sounds like hard work for a simple bowman

The Dol-Amroth Knights bodies are larger than the Warriors of Minas Tirith bodies so I reckon that would just look strange. Whilst it's a good idea it would look out of place and would also require a lot of conversion work for just one archer.

i have the same issues and after much deliberating with staff at my local store we agreed the best option would be to use warriors of minas tirth archers and use the heads of men at arms. the reason being the WoMT have the same armor style and patterns as men at arms the only thing that out sets them is the helmets hence the need to change them this is the way I will be doing it although as someone has suggested using Numenorian Bowmen this was the first option i looked out but they are too different to get a good tie in.
hope that helps
Regards
Julian
