Does anyone else feel that Legions of Middle Earth allows for too many alliances. I mean it doesn't matter which army you choose because evoryone can pretty much ally in anything they lack. |

My guess is that almost everyone. A very sad example was in White Dwarf a couple of years ago when Mat Ward presented his ideas on how to create a well-working, narrative (!), Evil army, threw Moria Goblins and Corsairs together and explained that they just happened to become allied for some reason, which he himself could not even imagine. If the guy who wrote LoME can't figure out an explanation for the alliances, maybe there are a few too many. -- Pasi |

The thing about allying that most bothers me is that Moria and the Dwellers Below can't ally. Why on earth not? That's so much more thematic than Moria and Umbar or something. |

Yeah there are some strange alliances, and some that should never happen. |

I think it may be because of primitive rivalries or something. But, yes, I agree. There are too many alliances and it allows for too many cheesy power-gaming combos. |

when we play, we use the factions (misty mountains, Gondor, Mordor etc) with some modifications rather than the army lists and we just don't ally. |

I think the reason why Moria and the Dwellers bellow cannot ally is because they represent different time zones. Similar how Minas Tirith and The Tower of Ethellion cannot ally and you think, why would people take Minas Tirith when it is the same as TTOE but without all the special heros. Minas Tirith is only used so that other factions can ally with Gondor from different time zones but without getting boromir in as well. As for Goblins and Corsairs... who knows. |
