I have been considering for a while buying a Realm of Battle board... but it does cost an awful lot. Does anyone have one? Is it worth the price? |

I have it and I like it a lot. I don't like terrain building at all, so quickly painting and flocking the board was a great way for me to get a good quality, good-looking board. It's designed quite nicely, with low slopes where the models don't fall too often (like in my home-made hills) and steeper cliffs that can be defensible obstacles. It feels quite durable. If it is worth the price for you, I don't know. For me it is, because I didn't fancy spending my rare free Sunday afternoons building a board and hills, which would in the end have looked worse than the Realm of Battle board. -- Pasi |

I had considered buying one, but in the end I decided I would rather build my own board and then use that money to buy some cool terrain pieces for it. I did help paint one up at my LGS, and ike Pasi said, it was very quick and easy. |

I also have to add that the storage system is very well designed. All six board pieces are designed so that they fit snugly in one bag, which BTW doesn't look at all bad. You should be aware that you need a table almost as big as the board you're using, because the pieces don't support each other. The other option is to have simple four foot long boards underneath the RoB pieces. -- Pasi |

If you have limited space, like in a new house, or an apartment, or whatever else, its a great investment. It all fits back in a nice sturdy bag, which is reasonably easy to move. You can also squeeze some scenery like hills in these after it, provided the scenery is protected. You still have to store and/or move things like trees and buildings. The scenery itself is quite nice, but there are a limited number of configurations (I imagined some fractally designed, cleverly cast piece that could support maybe eight or nine different configurations - it does about four or five). Also, each of the pieces has a lot of skulls. A lot of skulls. Like shedloads of them. For LOTR, you need to fill these skull holes in with greenstuff or sand or something. Because as metal as big crevices full of skulls and bones is, it aint Lord of the Rings. Finally, WOTR sort of assumes you'll get two sets of the board. I had grand plans to create complimentary sheets, to double the size of my board. I suspect what will actually happen is that next christmas I'll buy three extension sets (another six sheets) and just use that. Oh, the Scenery Painting pack is a VERY good investment. |

Has anyone bought one and regretted it? If so, why? |

well the only turn off is the price, so have you looked at various different sources to see if you can get a cheap one? I searched for a while and eventually found this amazing custom made board on ebay and almsot got it for a rediculously low price if it wasnt for this little kid that got his parents account (but i still did get it for a really good price ) |

I've got 2... My only regret is that I don't have enough space to get them all set out together at the same time. |
