I've been once many years ago (I really do not recall it well although seeing all of the painted armies was cool) but I am going to the one for this year. I am looking forward to it and I will be going up with friends so it should be fun. I also live near the Games Day in my region so it is not a hassle to drive there. Whether or not it is worth the money for admission and to travel a long distance there... I can not say. |

I've been once, won't go again. Its very expensive for what it is and is packed. It might be ok if you are interested in all GW products but if its just LOTR then forget it. |

It's alright. If you can go for free (i.e. with GCN) then go. Otherwise, save your money and go to Salute (The Perry twins are ALWAYS there, so you can chat to them). Gamesday is just another day for GW to rake in the bucks. LOTR is never a big feature there. Ever. Perhaps when the Hobbit is released, if GW cover it, Gamesday will be worth it. |

Ask and ye shall receive... Although, it could be considered relevant, as it's Games Day in another 4 months or so... |

Well, since the Thread Necromancer is on the board I will add my comment to this thread. No, Games Day is not "all that". I did not enjoy my time at the Baltimore Games Day this past weekend. It was loud, congested, and there really was not much to do since most of the gaming scenarios they had set up were terrible. I am talking about either completely watered down rules or the GW flunkies running the event did not know the rules at all. Plus, it was very expensive since the amount I had to pay to park was almost as much as the ticket to the event. It took only about an hour for me to be done with the place although I forced myself to stay a little longer in a vain attempt to justify the cost of coming (it did not work). I have no intention of attending it next year... assuming GW actually hosts another one. |

Hate to rain on your Parade John, but wasn't the US Games Day cancelled this year? |

No, the store has been selling Chicago Games Day tickets for some time now. Maybe you're thinking GTs? |

Yes, the GT has been cancelled but the GDs are still being held... although, as I said in another thread, there are rumors that they might not be held next year. John, it is entirely your call and perhaps the Chicago one will be better than the Baltimore one. I tried to go up with a group but ended up going by myself so that might have been part of the problem. Still, I had more fun hanging out at my local GW afterward than at the "almighty" Games Day. |

I think I'll go, just to see for myself how it is. If I like it, awesome- if not, it's only 25 bucks. Yeah, I've been hearing a lot of negative things about Baltimore's GD. Hopefully this one will end up working out for me. Plus, it's not too far away and I won't have to shell out much for parking. |

That's a shame! I've never been to a GD, but I used to go to Baltimore for Origins and other game conventions. It used to be a good place for it. I’ve always gone with at least one friend. I don’t think anyone should ever go to a gaming convention alone. Its not natural. |

I'm unnatural so that makes it ok. |

I prefer chilling out in Warhammer World at the weekend with some mates than going to Gamesday and the like (you can see the 'eavy metal paintjobs a whole much better there as well). As I said, if you can go for free, then go. Otherwise, do not. When they put on more than just the 3 'core' games (or when there was no core or specialist), the show was very very good. Ahh well. |
