You are not alone.

From what I gather, he has sold something, I'm not sure what (if ass appears in this post, it's obviously not that), on the internet, his teacher is retarded and doesn't hand assignments in... Which strikes me as strange as I figure the teacher should be handing them out...

Maybe parents have such a hard time shelling out cash for minis and books when they are aware they have illiterate children?

Maybe you'd have more success with that if you passed?

Or has she explicitly said that you can only go when you flunk the math class?

Your mom is pretty cool if she rewards you for flunking exams.

So you were trying convey that you’re not a brat, but a hard working boy.

I'm going to have to agree with the crowd here; education is too important to ignore. When my friend's teen age son flunked 2 quarters of math, he had his video games taken away, lost internet privileges, no shopping trips and grounded for a full month. Besides all the best gamers I know are actually very good at math. :)

Don't blame your teacher for your flunks, either. Despite what most people think, they're not out to get you.

I feel that parents would do better to support their children's hobbies if they did well in their first priority- school. I didn't start all this until a little more than a year ago, so I can't vouch for what my parents would have done. But I do know that if I was flunking school I'd be lucky not to be sent to boot camp. My parents were pretty strict about my education, and in retrospect, I'm glad. If I was doing well, they'd probably support me only if, as was said before, I showed commitment. Of course, the price tag may have turned them away. I don't know.

I put school over my hobby all the time (Which is why my progress slows so drastically in the fall/spring times). It's not easy because it isn't as fun, but I'd rather make this insignificant sacrifice than work in fast food for the rest of my days.

You are 12, right?

Well, that's not uncommon. My parents wouldn't let me leave town at that age, either. They were even a bit apprehensive to let me walk around past my block. That may or may not have been due to the, uh, "quality" of my neighborhood, though.

In any case, doing bad in school =/= rewards, generally speaking. Do awesome in school and they'll be more willing to help you with your hobby, I'm sure. Oh, that, and it affects what you do for the remaining 70-odd years with your life.

You could try to get you parents to allow you to buy on-line. There's nothing worse then driving all the way to the store and not finding what you wanted.

What you could do, if you know a few guys who also play, is make a joint order. That way, you can split the shipping, and, with any luck, your combined purchases could even net you an extra discount depending on where you order from.

Actually, that's good advice for any group of players.

There is also a way to order items directly to a GW store which avoids shipping costs altogether. Of course this is only of a benefit if you live near a GW.
