I've posted my full review over here:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25237But overall I had a great weekend. My biggest complaint as ever was that there wasn't enough time during the day to just wander round the place and take everything in, definitely need to get up there earlier on the Friday next time.
I didn't mind the blue v blue thing as I had an evil army and it didn't seem particularly unfluffy to be fighting Khand, Moria and Mordor. It's a bit odder when two elf armies are fighting each other both with Thranduil and Legolas but it doesn't trouble me hugely. I think it actually exposed some weaknesses in otherwise 'common sense' builds. For example, the Groblog+Shaman Moria build is a bit of a no-brainer when fighting good but if you're drawn against evil you my be facing Sap Will which can put a rather large dent in all your plans. Ultimately I liked only having 1 army to paint and bring along and you had less figures out at the same time than when you are switching after each game.
I'm largely in favour of the new rules, heroic strike has really helped Isengard I think and I used it to good effect over the weekend. In a way my biggest regret was that I didn't come up against any monsters (I'm not counting my drubbing by the 6 Fell Beasts) so didn't really get to see how the new monster rules affect the game.
The quiz was great, the atmosphere was great and I had 5 great games, I also really liked the forms to send in your heroic act stories, that drew on the cinematic/narrative thread that LOTR has always inspired.
No complaints from me, can't wait for the next one
