After a couple months of procrastination, I am happy to announce the commencement of the Reclamation of Khazad Dum Campaign! We have been making campaign-specific terrain, for example pillars, woods, rocky formations, and painting the models which will participate, for some time now. In this campaign my brother and I will play 5 custom-made scenarios following our own portrayal of Balin's expedition; the outcome of each scenario will affect the campaign by -mainly- affecting the composition of forces. Initially both Balin's Expeditionary Force, and Durburz's Moria Horde will be 1000 points; we will strive to achieve accuracy by disallowing some Heroes' inclusion. In the first scenario -which we played this evening- the Dwarven messengers sent by Balin to request military aid from the neighboring Dwarven Kingdoms, are waylaid by a pack of Wild Wargs, and Goblins. If they manage to reach the Dwarven allies, Balin's expeditionary force will be joined by the formers' contingents; specifically for each King -out of 2- notified, 200 points of Dwarves will join the expedition; additionally the Dwarves will get access to Khazad Guards. The second scenario will depict an ambush set by the arachnid denizens of Mirkwood, and their Goblin allies, on the expedition's vanguard. The vanguard will have to fight off the ambushers; if the ambuscade is successful the Dwarven army will be depleted by 30%. In the third scenario a part of the Dwarven force will venture north to secure the mountainous passages leading from mount Gundabad to Moria. If they prove successful the Goblin force will be deprived of Gundabad Goblin units, and 300 points of reinforcements. The forth scenario will take place within Moria. The armies will battle for supremacy of the main mine network. The winner is awarded 250 points of reinforcements; furthermore Dwarven victory will allow Balin to equip Durin's Axe. Finally the fifth scenario, the denouement: the decisive battle between the two armies, wherein the accumulated additional points will be added to the respective forces. Any ideas regarding the effect of each scenario to the rest of the campaign are appreciated. We are still finely-tuning the campaign and the individual scenarios. All the battle reports will be posted under this thread. |

Sounds great! I'd immagine Ori and Óin and Flói will be/are part of the Expedition's force, off course! Also maybe you could add a sixth scenario that takes place in Balin's Tomb, as a last stand kind of thing With Ori and some remaining Longbeards, if the outcome of the campaign allows that, after the grand battle against the goblins. Maybe you could also, if the dwarves are victorious in the 4th scenario, give Balin this custom made 'Lord of Moria' Special Rule: Click to: Show A few ideas, I think, just for the last scenarios. |
