Good afternoon, I wanted to post a link to my blog where I have added the final battle of our Fall of the Necromancer campaign we played this past Sunday. Was a lot of fun, and hope you enjoy http://bensminis.blogspot.com/2014/02/the-fall-of-necromancer.html |

Great write up, I like the narrative descriptions. I also like the paint jobs on the models, though basing them will really make them pop. If you can find a way to add more terrain (takes a while to build, I know) it will only add to the game. The rules suggest 33-50% coverage, and it's a key component of how the game is balanced. Look forward to seeing more! |

Two trolls, five wraiths and four castellans all emerge from that decrepit old tower? I love the paint jobs, especially the trolls. I've never seen that Legolas model before, where is it from? There was always something suspicious about the poses of the necromancer and Galadriel.... Coincidence? Very good report altogether. |

The legolas is from the Defenders of Rohan set. Stupidly rare, regularly goes for £80+ on ebay. |

Thanks for the comments everyone, they are much appreciated Basing is something I have started to explore a bit. Starting mainly with the new(ish) Stirland Mud paint. One of these days I may get brave enough to try adding some static grass or something too. I had fully intended to try to build a DOl Guldor/Mausoleum model such as is described in the FotN book, but procrastination being what it is, it just never happened . So, I settled on my Dreadstone Blight, heh. More scenery is something I would like to use though. More stuff to add to the list/backlog Yes, that Legolas is from the Defenders of Rohan set. I found the box at a local hobby store about a year ago at a clearence price. Sadly, the store seems to have dumped all their LotR models and has no intention of stocking more. I'm sure they would order them if I asked, but then, I might as well just go direct to GW. Kind of a bummer. |

Durandir wrote: Basing is something I have started to explore a bit. Basing is actually pretty simple. Make a mixture of 1/2 white glue + 1/2 water, blob on base to fill area, sprinkle sand, let dry. Take glue + water mixture, blob onto sand to fix in place, let dry. Add a coat of black paint, well diluted with water (maybe 1/3 paint, 2/3 water), let dry. Drybrush with a dark brown. Drybrush with a medium brown. Lightly drybrush with a light brown/dirty white. This takes care of the stone/earth. Take a paper clip and put a blob of blue on the base, push a finger-pinch of static grass into glue, press firmly with thumb, invert model and tap base to return loose static grass to container. Repeat with various colours. Done. |

Nicely written battle report; as already mentioned more terrain would have been nice. For a time I feared that the Good Forces would not prevail, but fortunately the Necromancer went down. Where you playing using the old SBG rules? |

Yes, I have The Hobbit rulebook, but we have not cut over yet to the new rules. Depending on how things go we may adopt all, or some of the changes, we shall have to see. |

My favourite bit: Quote: and somewhere a young Aragorn starts to weep. At least he has Eowyn as a backup. It's Faramir who really has problems. Well written. This scenario looks like a fun one; even with all the special rules and M/W/F to keep track of (five ringwraiths? Shudder). It felt really cinematic and pulse pounding. If the showdown with the necromancer is this good in the third Hobbit I'll be well pleased. |
