Post subject:  Hobbit SBG - Khazad Army vs Mordor
This latest battle saw a surprise visit to the club from Bilbo (onering). Sam was fielding a 1000 point Mordor army including the Witch King on fell beast, black guard and loads of Morannon orcs - as he was on his own Bilbo joined in and took 1/2 the force.

Craig and I took 1000 points of Durins Folk...

Another really close game :-X I'll add some details.

There was one turn where I forgot to move the witchking after casting his magic therefor forfeiting his move. ( I moved a model straight after casting the WK spell...funny 5 minutes).

Also, the WK fluffed a heroic combat in the last turn. Needing one 3 to kill a lone dwarf ranger he rolled double 2 :shock: :shock: Had he killed, he probably would have flown into the group of rangers who had just got on the hill and barged them all off.

Looks like a fun game. If those rangers had actually been utilized I wonder how the battle might have been different

To stop the shield wall on shield wall situation use more terrain.

I have plenty of terrain, so maybe I will give it a go using loads of it :-)

Also if you have bows don't deploy right at the centre. With dwarves,even if you have 12 bowdwarves(?) then you will get a couple kills and not get many in return because well your dwarves!
Edit:for example you had in that game 12 dwarf rangers with bow. They would of killed and average of 2/9 orcs with spears you shot at. Now that may not sound like much but if you deployed your dwarves 12 inches away you would of got 2 or 3 rounds shooting getting about 6 kills. That's half a warband of orc spearmen that can no longer support there tough bretheren

Thanks for your comments... We have a few changes to try out, as well as two tables running two single games, doubles at 1000 points is part of the issue!

But it was still an enjoyable game which was hard fought!

Dwarves are natural sprinters, very dangerous over short distances…
