Wondering if anyone has done any rules conversions for SBG for the Mighty Empires book? I didn't know it existed until today, it looks kind of interesting. What's the reception like among Warhammer gamers? |

Are there any specific rules you actually need to convert? I haven't had the chance to try ME yet, but at the top of my head, I can't think of anything you would need to change. |

I haven't had a look at the book yet so I don't know what would need to change. I was browsing online and came across their old 1990 rules. I imagine there are still rules for army support, foraging, etc? The old rules talk about "resources per banner" so this at least would have to be converted to a point cost. Or maybe they've gotten rid of all that. I did notice racial-specific rules online for ME (changes in "empire points" required to do this or that). I imagine that would also need converting. |

We use the 1990 ME rules for campaigns quite a lot. I'd really recommend them. The main changes we made (off the top of my head) Reduce all points costs to 20% of that stated in the book. Each player to start with the same points at the beginning of the game (rather than random as in the book). Ignore dragon rage at all times! We tweaked the equinox magics (ie got rid of all the ones that didn't fit with LOTR!) Each banner had to follow LOME, but not the whole army. We also used the character development rules from Legends of the High Seas (Pirates with SBG rules) to develop the leader of each banner. There were some siege rules that we started to develop - I'll have to try and dig them out - not sure if we wrote anything down. It was something like a city could build siege defences during the winter and for each turn of siege the attackers could build a certain amount of siege equipment. |

I imagine this campaign system could equally be used for WOTR. The only "problem" I ever had with it, in terms of using it to control a miniatures campaign, is that once two armies meet and a battle is to be decided, the whole campaign turn stalls at this point until the battle is resolved... That's OK if there's only 2 players , but with more, they may be a bit stuck, until the others finish their battle. |

What about the lord of the rings risk? you could assign a points value to every battalion, say mabye 50 points or something. Every time someone attacks, you would play a game. Of course the campaign would take a really long time.. |

I feel that the map for LOTR risk is very inacurate and dosn't give you that feel for middle earth. And also I dislike the use of eagles and wraiths as they are suppose to be a very limited amount of them. |

Im using Mighty Empires and making it like the Middle-Earth map to play campaigns, and if necessary use my old Planetary empires tiles too. P.S I can [word deleted] around with the animations all day |

I was looking at those 1990 ME rules. They dont seem too bad to play with. We were thinking of doing a lotr risk map campaign. 100 pts per unit. Never really took off. The biggest problem is deciding how to set up the board (ie starting positions). We were toying with the idea of having neutral armies of orcs and uruks on territories that didnt contain anyone. Any ideas? |
