hi all me and a friend have been playing sbg for a while now and have built numerous ruins (gondor and rohan) terrain like rivers, gullies, hills and forests large terrain pieces such as helms deep and minas tirith and even stuff like catapults trebuchets and siege towers. as such we have built up a large number of troops excluding hobbits arnor dwarves and khand. however we have literally played every scenario/campaign in the sbg mags and made up some of our own but its becoming a bit repetitive and were wondering if anyone could give some ideas please. preferably obscure ones that are quite long i.e dol amroth versus elves in rohan or moria versus harad or easterlings in osgiliath. thanks. |

you can start playing wotr, it is a good change to SBG, as it plays much differently and has lots of combos you can do. id also find some other people to play it with (look up gaming clubs and tournies) im dont know what you have/havent tried so i cant say much else, just try different things, or concentrate on a particular force and try different ways to play it |

thanks Shadowswarm. do you know if there is a free tester pack for the rules as i don't want to pay 30 odd quid for something i don't like? i'm also saving up for some rangers and morranon orcs! |

Hi, I've just finished making a campaign that has a few interesting scenarios in it so your prayers may be answered! I'm just trying to find a way to upload it at the mo though; the site won't let me upload PDF, .doc or .docx files... But I'm sure I'll find a way to upload it soon and you should have a new scenario to play within a couple of days maximum! |

You could try playing different points match games, but apply restrictions on what models you can field. For instance, you could ban any named hero or rare beast, representing one of the many thousand unmentioned "ordinary" battles that must have taken place in Middle Earth. Also, you could ban archers in some games, have cavalry only battles, etc. You could also try different challenges. What I mean by this is, have one smaller army pitted against a much larger army, and see how long they can hold an objective for before being overwhelmed. Then, swap sides and see if your opponent can do better. Be careful though, you don't want it to be a scenario where Aragorn, Boromir and Imrahil have to protect a small cave opening, or anything like that, as the game will just be drawn out and almost nothing interesting will happen the entire time. |
