King Elessar and the warriors of the Reunited Kingdom took on Druzhag and the spiders (plus goblin lackeys) of the Misty Mountains in a 'King of the Hill' battle over a ruin perched above the snow.

See how they did here:

Nice one. You should add your armies list...
No one beats Aragorn...

I've lost King Elessar to a Dragon before.... after the dragon ate through the rest of the army!

You made me realise that I actually shorted myself three coy of Knights!

My list was:
King Elessar 200
4x WoMT 120 (houserule costs)
4x WoMT 120
4x Axemen of Lossarnach 100
3x Rangers 90
4x KoMT 100
3x KoMT 75
4x Riders of Rohan 120

(and it should have been 3x KoMT 75)

Nothing too special, just a mix of unit types and I avoid making formations over-large. Since it was houseruled, unit upgrades are cheaper and I might look at taking some of those next time. The houserules tend to make it harder for Gondor players though, so the above model suits a RAW game as well - since you can have more stuff.

IIRC he actually started in the Axemen (my middlemost formation) then did the 18" jump turn 1, before the goblin turn. I think I had priority, and took it to get that wood next to the ruin (the objective).

Cheers

Nice report. Those Axemen look like WoMT with axes. I got a whole mix of broken WOMT and was thinking of making them axemen or Osgiliath Veterans one day although I'm leaning more towards the Axemen. I was thinking Aragorn with Axemen in Defensive terrain was gonna be hard to unearth.

Hi Ultrageek,

I *think* the list is:

Druzhag
6x Goblins with Shields (not Blackshields, out side the hideous RAW experiments, that is not how we roll)
4x Goblins w bow
6x Spider Cav
6x Spider Cav
Spider Queen
Spider Queen
Which is 1010 pts, by the looks of things, so I might have an error or he might have added up slightly wrong.

@Slythar, yes just secondhand WoMT with shields-devices and cheekguards filed down and axeblades added to spears.

Xelee, do you think allowing only one Epic Hero per army significantly helps to balance the game?

I know you don't ask me but i just say yeah pretty much. Imagine a game with two epic ehroes vs one epic hero(also it depends on the hero) but still it is more balanced...

It is not my first choice as a balancer (we still use my current houserules), since I'd rather you could have as many as you want but their rules were more fair, but I think it helps a great deal.

In terms of dealing with Darkness casters, it is actually BETTER than my houserules. Bear in mind, I would actually suggest a list, which distinguishes between the heroes that usually get 'stacked up' and the heroes we hardly see anything of:

http://roughwotr.blogspot.com/2011/05/w ... ncing.html

To be clear though - that format is specifically designed with 1000 pt games in mind. At that points level, amries have plenty of options in terms Legendaries etc. I think it would be absolutely wrong for 2000 pts, which should really be played unrestricted.

Cheers

I would also rather to field as many Epics, but a house-rule limiting them to one per army seems have by far the best simplicity/effect ratio of any house-rule.

Yes, that houserule thread got pretty confused, with all the versions up.

There is one houserule that everyone should use IMO - will of iron works on a 3+ (if not a 2+).

Cheers
