Knock Knock, Who's there?

Description

Hobbit-children are innocent kids but on the other hand they're very mischievous They've managed to find a new way of having fun: Knocking on someone's door and running away laughing. But this time they forgot something really important: They've knocked on Lobelia's door. Run! little hobbits before she catch you!

Participants

Good:
2 Hobbit children
2 Hobbit children with slingshot
(see below for the stats of Hobbit Children)

Evil:
Lobelia

Layout

Image
The game takes place on a 56 à 56cm board with in the middle of it a Hobbit Hole. There's also a road from the west to the east. The board is covered with some trees but this doesnt count as difficult terrain because all the particpants know the area very well.

Starting positions

Lobelia starts in front of her hole. 10cm away from that the hobbit children are deployed (this is on the crossing)

Objectives
The Goodside wins if at least 3 Hobbit Children leave the western or eastern site of the board.
Evil wins if Lobelia "kills" 2 Hobbit Children.
A Draw for any other result.

Special rules

Hobbit Children:
Hobbit children are very innocent and tend to play/fool around a lot. They've small legs, even for hobbits, so they may only walk 6cm each turn. They've high courage cause they don't know how dangerous some things are.
Here are the stats:
F/S S D A W C Points Movement
1/3+ 1 2 1 1 3 2p 6cm
For 1 additional point you can upgrade them with a slingshot, this counts as a bow with a Strenght of 2 with a range of 24cm

Fury:
Lobelia is really angry, so she doesn't need to make any Courage-test for whatever what reason.

Getting Caught:
-The hobbit children dont mean to kill Lobelia, and Lobelia dont mean to kill the children. If someone counts as a casualty(by getting "killed" or failing courage-tests) they count as being caught. Lobelia slaps the children really hard so they dont do it again and form no more disruption of the peace.
-So everyone could get "killed" (but in the realtime they dont die).
Therefor Lobelia's rule, The Umbrella is not migthier than the sword, doesnt count.
-In addition if a Hobbit Kid succees in wounding Lobelia by a ranged attack(slingshot or throwing stones) it doesn't inflict a wound. She is pushed back by 2cm in the opposite direction.

The Terror of the shire:
The Children are very afraid of Lobelia. So they need to take courage test for charging her(just like she causes terror).

Your opinion
I like to know your opinion about this Scenerio cause im a bit new in making scenario's. So post all your advice and/or comments. If it's good scenario i might post it in an article.

Edit 1: I changed the objectives
Edit 2: Children's courage lowered, edited "Caught" for the ranged weapons and added a new special rule: The terror of the shire

I would make this "...at least 3 Hobbit Children leave...", because all you have to do is split the 4 children up and have two run in each direction...Lobelia can only go after one group or the other.

yeah thats true
but the children need to take courage test for a broken force
well, i guess you're right maybe i should change it

And with Courage 6, that isn't really going to be an issue.

The hobbit children had courage5

but anyway, i changed the objectives:

The Goodside wins if at least 3 Hobbit Children leave the western or eastern site of the board.
Evil wins if Lobelia kills 2 Hobbit Children.
A Draw for any other result.

Cool idea! 8)

The only problem is what models to use. Lobelia being the biggest problem... :(

Yep, Lobelia is a problem...

For the kids you can use miniatures from Hasslefree.

http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=1600

They doesn't look like hobbits and are not very LotR-stylish, but it's the only alternative I can think of, except sculpting some kids...

well, you could always some other hobbit character for lobelia(or even golberry or something) as long as you use the same stats

for the hobbit children, you could use hobbit milita, since they come with 4 in one pack(and you need 4 children)

at least i think you can play it like that.

it is nice you think the scenario is a good idea, thank you

You can play it with 4 easterlings and Boromir if you just use the right stats, although it is much funnier to play with "real" minis.

of course, but then we've to sculpt the mini's or "borrow" them from other games

Here's an idea... get off your lazy butts and SCULPT SOME! :P

I think the hasslefree kids could make great hobbits... even without converting them... although I think a running pose would be more appropriate :)

what an evil b****!

I think they should just be captured, like in base contact or something - removed at the end of the turn. rather than killed! how savage for a lady who uses an umbrella to batter the enemy.

if you've read the special rule "caught" you'd know by "killed" means caught, so they dont literally die, but for game perposes: yes they do count as casualties.

Here are some great minis for hobbit children...

http://www.mithril.ie/races/index_hobbits.html

MC15 Merry and Pippin Classic Series
LR24 Merry & Pippin Limited Edition - Shire to Barrowdowns

They are about 2/3 the height of a GW hobbit.
Hope this helps. :)
