I have an idea and would like to hear your thoughts on it:

normally when games workshop do a sbg/ Wotr campaign, it is not a map campaign, but is a fixed series of battles, each with a grand battle, and a skirmish element. I have a different idea. do a map campaign with war of the ring, where you start of at a home city, and march towards the enemy. The grand armies must march on roads, hence the strategy battle game force, must scout head building roads, and capturing checkpoints from the enemy to allow the main army to advance. also they are left behind to keep the supply lines open, and if they loose control of part of the road, the main army can't get reinforcements. I believe that this will allow for an interesting map campaign, which gives war of the ring and the strategy battle game equal importance.

What are your thoughts?

I like the idea of combining the two game systems in one campaign, that seems pretty cool.

I have a copy of the Mighty Empires tiles, which are very easily adapted for use with SBG and WotR. You might look into getting a copy.

Sounds very interesting. You could try the middle earth in flames map cause there is a PDF on GW website.

{aD}???, cheers for that pointer. I only got into GW LOTR with WOTR, so I wasn't aware of that.

It looks easily adaptable to WOTR and I am now supposed to be promoting LOTR at out club.... so you've started the wheels turning. I just need to figure out how to shorten it and provide a mechanism to keep players in the game and not have one side too far ahead.

Glad to help. The map came out in BGIME thats why I remembered it. The map came with it and I lost it. So went searching and found it on GW website. I only play SBG and think it looks like great fun I just don't have anyone to play against  . But shouldn't be too hard to put into wotr though and good luck with it.
