Hi there, I've been looking at the items from Greenstuffworld.com where I make an order once in a while. I really like their items, but my eye fell on something new: Mixing Paint Steel Bearing Balls: http://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/mixin ... small.html They claim that if you add a little ball of stainless steel to each painting pot (I'm using Citadel paint) it'll keep the paint from splitting after storing it for a while. I'm just wondering... Can this really help... Or is this just a sneaky way to make some more profit from dumb customers (like me, haha)? |

I use ball bearings in my paints but they are in dropper bottles. The citadel pots are smaller and squatter and may not benefit that much. I would just use a toothpick to stir the paint back to life. |

With the black primer I really notice that the bottom is sticky and the top layer is very thinned out. Even stirring the bottle for like 3min doesn't add a very big difference... Guess I have to buy a new primer pretty soon. |

I use the stainless steel balls in my vallejo's and I find it works a treat particularly for the paints that tend to be a bit thinner, mixes them up nicely. Got mine from Ammo by Mig Jiminez for a couple of bucks |

You can use BB's, which are cheaper. Crack open one shell and you'll have enough for life. It all depends on how long that you plan to store paints. Even with the BB's, you'll need to add a few drops of water and to shake things up periodically. Basically the BB's are acting like the rattle ball inside spray paint cans. One of the best investments you can make, is the battery powered paint mixer from hobby catalogs. Saves endless stirring for about 10 bucks. |

Thanks for the advice! I decided to buy a few of those balls and I just put them in. Let's see how my balls of steel work out. (*gniff* so many jokes to be made about this topic) |
