Post subject:  Milliput: how to use it. (specific situation)

This is not a general question about milliput. (yellow-grey)

Currently I am trying to multiply a base that I have made of this product. I use instant mold for the solid shel and I am placing it into a base covered by fresh mixed milliput.

My problem is that while the milliput is becoming stone, it sticks into the instant mold, and when I remove it (after 6 hours) it breaks and its upper part (where the embossed stuff is) sticks to the instant mold. Complicated?

The thing that will clarify how to better use this, is what can I make to help the stoned milliput to slip out the instant mold shell. Water? I tried it but no. If I use this when I put the fresh mixed milliput into the shell, milliput becomes wet, it's like mud and cant bring nice results. If I use it while I try to unattach the stoned milliput from the shell it does not help at all.

My only solution is to mix a bit green stuff with the milliput, it will become much more flexible but green stuff is expensive (for the amount I will finally need). So I just need what I mentioned before.

Please help guys :)

I was going to suggest mixing greenstuff with it but you already covered that.

Where are you buying your greenstuff from? You can get 36" for about £8 which lasts me years... I eventually lose it and have to get more

You can possibly try some mold release, tiny bit of watered down vaseline or vegetable oil maybe.

Coat the mould with vaseline perhaps.

Yes, Vaseline works wonders with milliput and green stuff. It's better than water because it doesn't make the milliput sticky.
