Can anyone give me a few pointers on the best way to paint the horse emblem on my banner bearer... White can be a tricky colour to get right and just wondered what others may have done. Many thanks |

I would like the same advice... What I already had in mind is to draw the horse on the banner with a pen (the one for CDs) and then paint with colours over it... |

I suggest you draw it out on a piece of paper first ( the design you have in mind); look at some designs from the films or create your own. After drawing it, get another piece of paper, your paints and brushes and paint it on the paper. Once you're happy with the design you've painted, paint it onto the banner. By then, you should feel capable of doing after getting it right on the paper. Alternatively, you could just paint it onto the paper, cut that desogn out and then with some PVA glue stick it on (something that just came to mind, so not entirely sure it works). |

I'm not actually after drawing the banner by hand. All I would like to know is the best way to paint the banner from the Rohan Commanders box set. But thanks anyway! I'd never have a chance at doing something like that by hand! |

Oops sorry I misread your situation! The emblem is embossed so I suppose you just try to keep clear lines, paint first the horse fast and then carefully focus on painting the background trying not to lose the horse's details. |

Yes, strangely, it always works out better if you finish all the detail work first, then delicately outline and fill in the background. So start with the horse emblem then work around it. |

Brilliant, cheers guys! Would you recommend just pure skull white for the horse? Or white scar as its now known I think... |

Try ullthuan grey instead of White, it's a very light grey. And then highlight that with white. For a solid base colour go for celestra grey (I think it's called) as it's a base colour, then layer your ullthuan and white over it |

Nice one, cheers. My paint collection is lacking some what in those colours! Any suggestion on how to mix them up.. Also, this is my first finecast model. Having the usual trouble it seems straightening the banner pole out... I've tried hot water a few times with cold afterwards and it seems to work but then it just goes bent again after half hour or so. Quite frustrating! Is there a better way... hair drier treatment better? Thanks |
