Finally ran out of my much beloved Codex Grey. Boo.
Went and bought a pot of Dawnstone Grey. Yay.
Only, Dawnstone is a pretty thin "layer" paint, whereas Codex Grey had a bit more heft to it.
So, something needs to go under it. Anyone have any ideas what? The "base grey" GW sell, Celestra is a very blueish colour and not really close to the Codex tone.
So...suggestions? (Honestly, my wander back into the realms o' citadel paints in the last year or so has been hit or miss and mostly miss.)

Well it is a "layer" paint as you mentioned, but the darker color that pairs with it is for shading and such, if you just want the codex grey look just apply multiple layers. But the "step darker" grey is probably "Mechanicus standard grey"

I use eshsin grey. Theres a bit of a leap between it and dawnstone so a wash is required.
