Post subject:  MoM Paints

Hey everyone! I bought MoM a little while back, before GW stopped selling them, and I've been using those paints recently. Needless to say, I've started to run out, but I'm not sure which paints to pick up to keep color continuity. Does anyone have a list of the names of the specific paints from the MoM set? Thanks!

When I had the set the gw assistant said the paints are very similar to those of the hobby starter set with the previous paints. I found them to be excellent as the base colours for each model.

So my brown is what seriously needs replacing. Does Bestial Brown, now Mournfang Brown, sound like that's the one from MoM?

That would be only thing I would really change. I suggest scorched brown as a replacement. Calthan brown was too light.

GW used generic names for the paints in the MoM Hobby Set and the older MoM paint set and I'm not sure if they ever actually had equivalents in the Citadel paint range. Additionally, as you know, the paint range has been completely overhauled, so getting an equivalent of an equivalent is more difficult.

But yes--Bestial Brown (now Mournfang Brown) is almost certainly the best equivalent of the Brown they included in these sets.

If you're looking to restock on paints, I'd recommend switching to Vallejo, which are of a much higher quality (and cheaper) than Citadel paints. The eye-dropper bottle makes them ideal for paint palettes.

Here's a compatibility chart comparing Old Citadel and New Citadel with other paint ranges. Try and see if you can match up your colors there.
