Hi all

Over all the painting posts ive seen i've seen many jewels on models and they look really cool. This is one painting techniqethat I am yet to learn and i would be really interested in learning it. Could someone tell/show me how to do it, preferably with pics?

thanks
SidTheSloth

All I do is "base" the jewel in silver, then coat it in one of Testors' colored metallic paints. They've got a wide range that can make a beautiful jewel appearance.
Unless NMM is what you're looking for, of course.

I, um, well. I use a real stone!

For my Mines of Moria Gandalf I snipped a hole in his staff at the top and plonked a tiny stone on top - the kind you find when you go sifting for precious stones.

I'm imagining though that you're painting flatter ones, like on shields... which I can't say I have any advice for, sorry. But the precious stones are useful for Basing Dwarves as well!

See attachment :)

Hehe. I remember painting my MoM Fellowship, and I had a small jar of precious stones sat on my painting table from a holiday, and I was saving them in case I found some use for them. And then I was like O_O and it dawned on me!
