Inks are what we used before washes were invented. They are closer in consistency to water, highly pigmented and dry to a glossy finish. They need to be diluted quite a lot whatever the use.
I have the inks from P3 and tend to use them for quite specific things.
Metals - normal washes dry to a matte finish so inks can be quite useful to add colour or definition to metals whilst retaining the shine. Leather - I use brown and red inks to add a satin finish to leathers. Blood - again the glossiness makes them useful for blood effects.
That's about it. If you want something to use as a wash on skin then get the appropriate wash from gw, vallejo or wait for army painter to make theirs available.
