It just shows what can be achieved with the cheapest of materials and a little bit of thought. Nice and simple and easy to do with a decent result at the end. |

Very nice job. Short and to the point and the end effect is quite nice. I would have liked to have seen a little more "generic" information (e.g. what are the actual dimensions of the beer matts, as well as the actual dimensions of the columns, for those of us whou don't have a ready supply but would like to duplicate your design...) but the clarity of the directions as well as the photos makes it a very useful article. Please, keep up the good work. Cheers |

Hmm. Simple material and a good basic design concept. To be honest, I would have gone a bit further with the shaping and cutting as the columns in the films had more elaboration, but then these have the right 'Khazad' feel to them so, not to worry. The alternative to making them is buying the cast versions from Thomarillion (oh, you beauties) at considerably higher cost (though less excuse for hanging around bars). I suppose the association with beer has a certain appeal to some people (names will not be published to protect the guilty!) A straightforward article with a simple elegant product; well done! |

Well Done Ninjameister I love it when people get great results with simple materials and using simple ideas. Not everybody can do the complex stuff so your article is really valuable to the community because EVERYBODY could have a go. |

Hi the collums look great! My friend and I made ours out of 2" blue foam. They look nice but they certainly weren't cheap. |

When I first saw columns like these, I thought that they would be hard to build, but when I read your article, I saw how it easy it was to create awesome columns with cheap material! Excellent article! |
