We have had a few quite good articles of late, however you can wait a lifetime for that EXCELLENT one to come along !

This is indeed one of the excellent ones, albeit not a totally original idea, but the execution, presentation and end result are simply marvelous !!!

An excellent read, excellently presented and most of all it has inspired me to make my own at some point (which is why we have articles in the first place, in my oppinion).

Fantastic Chris, many thanx for writing this article. May you write many more to this standard !!!

Post subject:  What a fantasic article!

Thanks for taking the time to write this article. It's a winner from the text through the step-by-step graphics. I want to build one now! Very worthy followup to a deserving, award-winning terrain piece.

Woah Momma! A thoroughly enjoyable article Chris, very well written and the photos (and renders) are superbly done - they illustrate the article perfectly.

The end result is a stunning piece (and a prize winner too!) and seeing how you made it just adds to the amazement! I don't follow guides when building terrain models, preferring instead to come up with my own designs, but I will definately use this one.

What a fabulous addition to the library.

I read it through completely and feel like I have built my own tower (looking puzzles around on my table - where is it?.... ;-).

superbly described and illustrated!

I especially liked all the tiny important things to be explained and shown (e.g. the pins/pivots for the ramp)

now knowing how it was done, I look at your gallery pic of the siege tower much different - with even more respect and admiration!

Fantastic, awe-inspiring, superb, you have set the bar to a new level.

And that's just the article. Don't even get me started on how good the seige tower is. I've wanted to do one for a while and now I have it spelled out for me.

Thanks

@ringking
with 'I couldn't have done better myself' - do you mean you have done several ones, and/or a professional in modelling?
(excuse probable missing knowledge from my side here ... maybe your name is well known in the hobby community ... )

Well! - I have no fear of saying that I actually gave it a rating - considering the comments already posted here - that appears to be unusual

Please excuse me for stating what may be obvious to some people - but a lot of people appear all "Gooey and excited about articles" - but when push comes to shove - do they vote? (or "rate") the article - seems like "Not Necessarily So"

Yet, everyone WANTS more articles - SO! - if you take the time to read it (even if you dont like it) - how much trouble is it to click on the "Rate this" button - be fair in that assessment - dont let personal likes and dislikes get in the way of your judgement - Rate it as to whether or not it was well put together and "explained things" or not

For those others in this wonderful hobby that are relatively "New" like me - where else would we get the inspiration to learn new things if it were not for articles like this - written by all sorts of people with various degrees of experience and/or expertise

Lets all try and acknowledge the time and effort that goes into prepering an "Article" - this particular one is a good example ( Sorry Dorthonion) - BUT - the writer obviously decided "Late" in the project to make the effort to produce an article - hence the very nice graphics of some of the earlier steps

Now! - I dont pretend to be any sort of person that can produce anything even approaching this (or any of the "other" articles in the library) - BUT IF it was me - Then I might think "Why should I bother?" - "x" number of people read the article and only "y" number bothered to take the effort of pressing a button or two - I personally am of the age that it doesnt bother me anymore - BUT - IF I was a young teenager that had gone to a lot of trouble documenting and photographing "something" to produce an aid for others - THEN I may get the impression - "Why Bother?"

Think about it! - and then ask yourselves - should I at least "rate" it even IF I dont like it? - why not? - as long as you have valid reasons for not liking it

You guys are just too generous!

There will be more - as I have intimated, there is a Mark 2 in the advanced development stage though it will likely get bumped as there are a couple of much more interesting things cooking, even now.

The 3D application is called Bryce5 and I intend to use it in more articles in future - sometimes it helps clarify complex ideas, the old 'a picture is worth 1000 words adage' may apply.

Best of luck to all with their towers!

Oh-two things. Many thanks to Mac for polishing the piece and fixing my raggedy BBcode. And just in case anyone thinks I have gone over to the dark side, there is the matter of a certain Wall that should be coming along sometime soon.... with accessories to follow.

Superb!

A wonderful article for an absolutely amazing siege tower. Some of those pics showing the tower simply must be of a real, full-scale one! :)

I stand in awe, this is something special. And there's to be a Mark 2?! Yes, please! :D
