I first saw this article (and the real thing I may add), over 2 years ago.

It looks as good now as it did back then !

A quality article and well written. Unfortunately, Steve's (Quendi) job has meant he has been away from the hobby for quite some while, which is a great shame as he brought so much to the community !

Totally agree Rutta: some articles 'date' with time, but not this one. Its one of my absolute favourites and was an inspiration to me when I first started in this hobby two years ago.

An innovative and inspired technique and the results are surprisingly good.

Very clearly written and good pictures. And of course the topic is interesting too. I've had a boxful of sprue pieces waiting to be used for some time, maybe it's finally time to build something of them.

:D I haven't seen this before... that's an amazing ruin.

I love the article, it's a very nice idea, but cutting sprues in 100000 little pieces doesn't sound like fun.

AARRGGHH!!
Damn it I just binned all of my old sprues as I could not think what to do with them, I only kept a couple just to add as rubble around some scenery.

:? Wonder if the bin has been emptied yet?

Oh well I will just have to buy some more models to get the sprues :D

Heheh, blame it all on the dustmen Nygyll.

This is one of the classic articles from the dawn of the site and was too good to leave languishing in the archives (many more still to come too). I hope everyone is remembering to rate these articles. The rating gives others a good indication of the usefulness or quality of the article.

That's not bad at all, Valdor. Nice work.
Why not add this picture to your own gallery?

Has your camera got a macro setting?

Your photo could be improved by giving a neutral background ( a sheet of white paper curled upwards at the back ) and simply by getting a bit closer.

Otherwise, good work. :D

Well, the camera belongs to my sister. But she (softly spoken) kind of a pain in the you-know-what. i asked her if it had a macro setting, but she replied: "NO, it doesn't, i have tried all the button, now stop asking". She never read the manual, so i had to do it. So i asked her: "can i read the manual?" her replie: NO, you can't, stay away from my room and leave me alone"

sigh

only one option left then. Like a true assassin i sneaked in her room and very silently took the manual. She never noticed. Now i have read it and it does have a macro setting. so i think that when i get in the hang of i, more pictures will be coming.

:D That's cool! Nice sneeking - a bit like Gollum maybe - or a ninja?

I remember what sisters can be like, especially at a certain age. Still, it was nice of her to let you borrow it in the first place. Aren't manuals great!

Looking forward to seeing more of your pictures on the site.

Kind regards,
Natarn Ulka.

I tried it myself, with awsome results. I love the article, it is truely inspired. :D

However, I will say this: cutting the spues up is one of the most tedious things I know, and it really takes a toll on your hands.... :P
