They are some of the most beautiful models I think GW has ever produced for the Lotr/Hobbit.

Unfortunately, I probably wont buy any. I may get Thorin and the Dwalin Balin pack in the future, but likely not. You guys?

Im afraid, though. Id probably destroy the paint jobs anyway.

Can't afford the preorder after my ridiculous moment of luncacy with the elves last week, but on release day I can probably get Thorin, and hopefully the Fili and Kili pack, too. The rest I'll pick up after christmas, probably. No point just getting some of them.

I'm a damaged, damaged man.

Haha I love the way you say it.

Well personally, I do want every one of them(minus the hobbit). But I am first a gamer. So I want Thorin Dwalin and Balin as warband leaders. Fili and Kili look really cool but I could never justify their points for a game.

That's fair enough, it'd be nice if we didn't have to make compromises (you compromise on minis, I compromise on...well, food and other things. I don't need food to live, right?), but such is the way of things these days.

Those three sound like good buys - if they can lead warriors. They might be whole new profiles. I shudder at the thought of Thorin and Dwalin in that armour, though.

I'm kind of iffy on some of them, actually. Getting my favourite Dwarves (Dwalin, Dori and Gloin) would only require buying two of the sets though, and I do quite like the others that come in those ones as well. I'm a maybe for now. I haven't bought anything LoTR/ Hobbit in ages.

No! :o

But they are nice! Some more, others less...

I guess I'll get 1 blister or two. It's a shame though it aren't the unarmoured dwarves from AUJ Book.

I am not sure about some of them. At first glance some of them seem a bit bulky. Will prob pick up thorin and bilbo but even if I did want the rest I can't afford them.

Exactly what I was thinking. Quite nice, mad money. Thorin and Bilbo won't break the bank though, so I'll treat myself. Horrible paint jobs mind you

I think i will buy the balin-dwalin set and thorin-bilbo next month and i will probably get the others over the year too. But balin, dwalin and thorin have priority

I'm sorry man but to me those poses are 80% of what I judge these mods on and they're fantastic along with the weapons choices.

I'm glad they all have proper weapons now..(Axes & Hammers etc.) and generally look more dwarvish..

But Kili's face is just terrible...terrible

The other models look cool though...might pick up a set for Christmas

Oin, Dwalin & fili are probably my favorites...maybe add thorin in there too!

Overall I don’t really like them.

I think a few of them are great but others (Fili & Kili in particular) I don’t like.

I suspect we might be seeing a few in the trades forum and ebay for people who only want particular members.

I have been looking at the new releases.
The sculpt quality is reasonable.
The prices are not (IMHO).

I'd be excited but all the ones I want will probably be the ones kept hahaha.

Although I would rather have these sculpts over the EFGT set, given that I already have the later I would much rather spend money on characters I don't yet have - like potentially Dain and Dwarf Cavalry.

Not next week at least - next week is Lakemen and Smaug (verified somewhat by a WD cover leak. No dragon pictures yet, but it's "The Biggest Dragon We've Ever Done!" on the cover.)

Smaug 1 miniature online only $490
Bard the Bowman with Windlance 1 miniature $40
Lake-Town Militia Captain 1 miniature $20
Lake-Town Militia Swordsmen 3 miniatures $25
Lake-town Militia Bowmen 3 miniatures $25
Lake-Town Militia Spearmen 3 miniatures $25

Also posted in the rumour thread.

Hmm... this was a tricky decision for me...

I really wanted a new Thorin's Company, something to really test my painting skills after two years back in the hobby (after a five or so year hiatus after LOTR SBG) and now with plenty of practice up my sleeve, but I just can't justify the price. It shames me to moan about GW's pricing strategies, but come on, it's £118 for the new company in Finecrap... compare that with the Goblin Town starter set (£65 for me), where I got Thorin's Company, in heavenly plastic, alongside Gandalf, Radagast, an unpaintable amount of goblins and scenery, and a Hobbit-sized library worth of rules, gaming material and other tid-bits. It would be absurd for me to buy the new company, but luckily, I had predicted this...

Knowing the colossal waste of money I'd begrudge parting with for the full Company, I anticipated each member being sold separately (like the young Dwarves or Thrain and Thror at £12 each), but once again, this clearly wasn't so. If this had been the case, I would have happily broken the bank and got away with Thorin, Balin, Dwalin, Gloin and Bilbo, but now with them in 3-man clampacks, I just don't want to.

I'll scout Ebay now and again to see if something tickles my fancy, but I can't possibly even consider buying these new miniatures anytime soon.

Oh, and one more thing.

I noticed this while browsing GW's magnified images... the head poses for all but Bilbo, Gloin, Kili and Bombur seem to be recasts of the Goblin Town miniatures. Lazy designs in my opinion. :o
