This is the elusive finecast set that is still to be released. |

A pity the image was not a bit brighter - not the easiest to see and make out the details. |

Been waiting for these minis since I bought the book (back when the Hobbit minis were released), and I'm now losing patience >:( I suppose I'm gonna be waiting a little longer too, but I can only guess. |

Why does everybody think they are finecast? |

Hill-Troll wrote: Why does everybody think they are finecast? Good point, my guess is that A: Finecast is the way GW has released most Hobbit characters. B: The Gandalf/Bilbo in the picture are both alternate finecast sculpts, so you'd assume the rest of the pictured set is aswell. |

The appear to be finecast just by looking at them. The plastic Thorin's co (and most other plastic minis) seem to have a certain brittle appearance that gives it away. These minis are much more solidly built giving the impression that it is finecast or metal. Probs not meta though. |

This set should come out before TABA correct? The company seems to be in their AUJ/early DOS outfits, i.e., prior to having all their clothes soaked during the barrels sequence. In the second half of DOS they are seen wearing various under-garments (that sounds goofy haha) and hand-me-downs from Bard I think. I guess their original clothes could get dried out and re-worn, but it seems unlikely to me that they will wear those clothes in TABA. So I have a feeling this set will come out before TABA--I'm sure for TABA we could very well see a set of the company in Battle of Five Armies war armour. Just my 2 cents. |

Or GW just decided there isn't enough market and never goes to full production... |

Their original clothes were taken by the elves. |

My hopes is that after TABA is released we will see a load of new releases like a Thorin company box, Dwarven archers set, Rivendell Elf infantry and the like. My hope is that the movie company gives GW more freehands when the movies are done |

I assume on that day the Daleks and the Doctor will be walking down the street together singing songs of friendship. .. Probably just as likely |

Judging the way Doctor Who has been going lately, that will probably be the highlight of the series. All justified using a plot device that would make total sense in a three hour movie crammed into a minute of undiluted exposition.Good ol' Moffat. Should stick to Sherlock, where he actually has the space to write his convoluted plots. For now... Back on topic, giving GW "free hands" simply means giving them the opportunity to ignore us all like they were doing pre-Hobbit. If they just stop making stuff OOP that would be an improvement in of itself. |

i asked a gy employee about this, they didn't even notice the new versions until i showed them the booklet. one theory they had is that these were the minis gw presented to the movie folks, sort of like test pieces. whether or not they will see production is anybody's guess. |

Yeah, I still love that set and would buy it for sure. The longer they wait though, the less likely it becomes |
