Hey guys. I've read a couple of posts about GW lately. I don't really get what's happening though... Is the whole Lord of the Rings ranger going oop?! And why? I only just got into the hobby... Had so many armies planned... and now I might have to buy them off eBay at high prices... |

This has been discussed repeatedly on the forum so u can find far more in-depth than what I will provide here. The game has been around since the Fellowship movie, GW doesn't own the intellectual rights to the game so they have to pay a licensing fee to make LOTR figures. So GW makes less money off these models than their own games. LOTR did great with the original 3 movies but GW is phasing the game out. |

Get them while you can, or else pay GW mailorder full price in future, and they may reduce the range stocked or even put it out of production altogether. Sadly, this will happen to The Hobbit range eventually. But once the licensing with GW ends, maybe some other company will fill the void. All speculation, at this point, but based on past experience (Necromunda, GorkaMorka, Epic, Titan Legions, Space Marine.....) |

I am very sad to hear LoTR SBG is dying... I think some of the best GW miniatures are from the Lord of The Rings. I am also quite new in the hobby, and perhaps I'll order some stuff that I wanted now because it would otherwise be too late. |

We still have to 2017 when the license expires. |

Can't they just keep it as a specialist game for years to come? Hmmmm there is probably too much stock to maintain for it to be a specialist game. This is balls. It is such an incredible game system with such incredible models. It's a shame that it will all just....fade away. |

Yeah so? Mortheim is still played by many even though there's no support from GW for a very long time now. There are unofficial new add-ons and rules etc. It's in the hand of the community to keep LOTR SBG from dying, not in the hands of GW. It is still ery easy to get any army togehter...I even managed to get over 50 metal uruk scouts and over 40 metal orcs for rather cheap. So even newcomers can get into it even if the minis aren't readily available in shops. All this speculating and whining doens't help a bit...playing, painting, collecting, being creative does. |

If people warn't interested the price of ebay models will go down because there wont be such a high demand. |

There is absolutely no evidence that GW is dropping the game. It has been a well known fact that LOTR/Hobbit is the least popular of the 3 major GW games for years and people who are dissatisfied with GW's policies (with legitimacy to some extent) complain and whine to the point of complete exaggeration and unnecessary negativity. Instead of spreading lies and gross speculation while jumping on the 'GW is bad' bandwagon, people should just have fun with the fact that IT IS A GAME AND A HOBBY. All of this negativity damps the spirits of these forums to a sickening extent. |

The One Ring will continue to support the game and the community well into the future. No matter what Games Workshop chooses to do with their product, players will have a home to come to and talk about their hobby. Shifting it over to 'Specialist Games' is a sign that they aren't selling the product as much as they were hoping to. I am just glad that they chose to take up the Hobbit licence in the first place - it gave us an extension on the game's lifespan that we may otherwise not have had. |

I think everyone is missing the real reason Australia has had LotR moved over. Its because they hate Australia for some reason lol The game is still in its usual location here for the US and hopefully it stays that way till the end |

Until we have some confirmation from GW, this is just another rumour. If anyone has more information, please post it here so we can clear things up. It does seem doubtful to me that GW would relegate this game to a minor business unit on the eve of the new movie release. |
