Hi guys... Since all the sourcebooks are no longer available and as games workshop is writing only for Lotr since 20 june there are rumours that they prepare something new to release and most rumours say it will be a new rulebook with all the profiles... |

It would be nice to see a re-release with everything included together. The Sourcebooks are great for background information, hobby material and scenarios, but for gaming purposes, nothing beats having to carry one book. |

Or nothing's being prepared at all, and GW suddenly remembered that hey, don't we have this other game system that we're paying lots of money on a license of something? Damn, belt up some articles, maybe shift more units. :p (Though its entirely likely that the "major new release" is coming, and this is a way of prepping the ground. It's just that most of these discussions are like Kremlin watching in the Cold War) |

i seem to have got into this at the wrong time rules wise but one book does sound like a good idea, though i guess it would cost a fortune, how much were the source books when you could buy them? I emailed gw a couple of days ago as a newb saying ive just purchased a product from you where do i buy the rules, whats going on, hopefully i will get a response. |

I don't think there is a new release, just its national LOTR week. However, if there is something coming it will probably just be finecast wave II, not a new book |

The source books included a lot of extras. Painting guides, scenarios, background, etc. I think the theory behind a new One Ring style SBG rulebook would be that it would pull together all the Profiles that have accumulated in the various releases, not that it would include all the extras. I really don't expect any SBG updates or books though until the Hobbit comes out. That film is the best chance of SBG revival, I just hope GW doesn't try to reinvent the game system in the process. It has evolved to a very smooth and enjoyable system and I'd hate to see it start from v.10 again. |

I don't think that there's any source to the rumors. It's primarily speculation/wishful thinking on our parts. |

Anyways, I hope this big release won't just be the 2nd finecast wave.. I like the details, but that's it.. I'd rather have the details of the metals than those high prices.. But let's just wait and see, shall we? |

I'm sure that there will be a second wave of Finecast models long before they would release a new edition of the game, but with the 10 year anniversary and the release of The Hobbit movies, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities. |

if they were to release a book with all the profiles in then its unlkely that they would release any new models with new rules until a long time after which is not too good. Whatever the release it has been way to long coming, Im guessing a new sourcebook or rule book based on how they were attempting to almost get people back into lotr with the tone of their articles on the gw website, if it is simply a 2nd finecast wave though i will not be happy |

I don't even like the idea of a new book with all the profiles. Like LOME it would be out of date before it hit the shelves, and probably full of errors. And then the Hobbit movie would come out with fully armoured and shielded Wood Elves and then what would they do? What I'd love is a binder with replaceable sheets...or even better, both that and a PDF download option. Or even better yet: make a free app for the iPad (I volunteer to write it for a small fee...) and allow in-app purchases of profiles, scenarios, painting guides, terrain building, etc. Allow print streaming from the iPad to desktop so people can build their own binders. Price it like iTunes...99 cents an item, or bundled deals (eg: all of Gondor's profiles for $10) GW needs to get with the electronic age. |

I think all stats should be available online to becoming out of date. Even though GW would lose money from that, its just something that has to happen as time goes on and technology develops. |

That is not true The journybooks (fellowship, two towers and return of the king) are still available but the sourcebooks (like mordor and gondor in flames) are not available anymore. |
