Good to know its coming. The cinema trilogy pack has only just appeared on Blu Ray in the backwaters of Region 4, so I'll be waiting a little longer until I get a player... |

When the theatrical edition came out 2 years ago the itch to buy it was unbearable!! But I knew this was coming sooner or later...YES. |

Gotta resepct the 'quadrouple-dip' release strategy. They can get people to buy the same product FOUR times!: DVD (Theatrical), DVD (S.E.), Blu-Ray (Theatrical) and finally, BLU-Ray (S.E.). I resisted getting the theatrical cut, got the DVD, and to be honest, it may be utterly impossible to resist the Blu Ray S.E... The Mouth of Sauron's gonna look so creepy... |

^Just wait until they release the 3D theatrical cut of the trilogy and then the extended version a few years later. And then a few more years after that the holographic versions, then virtual reality versions! Think of all the possibilities! |

My blu-ray Extended editions arrived this week. I have only had time to watch the first hour of FOTR and about 2 hours of ROTK - I had to see the Pelennor Fields... Anyway, having watched the EE DVD's on an LED TV with upscaling from the blu-ray player, I could see the increase in quality when viewing the same scenes on blu-rays using the same machine and TV. There is incredible detail, and you realise that the Weta guys efforts in the intricacies of armour and the sheer amount of stuff crammed into Minas Tirith can all be seen. Every hair, scar, wrinkle... all visible. All the CG warriors, trebuchets... When time allows I will be ploughing through all the discs... so that's about a weeks viewing taken care of (and then some). |

I want to know if they put in anything new for deleted scenes that didn't make the cut and put them in special features. |
