I notice Thranduil, King of Mirkwood in his robes is back online too, I'm not sure if it was unavailable for a while, but I remember not being able to pick it up for some reason.

He literally only has been selling finecrap and finecrap 3 packs for a long time now ....

Laketown 3 for $25? Yeah right.

Check out forge worlds site, they charge more than GW for their products.

Dude.....there was a rough quote somewhere saying the Iron Hills dwarves would be around 50-55 dollars for a box of 12. (Cant find where it was said directly).

But right now as of GW's current price set we get 3 infatry troops for $25!!

Thats literally around 45-50% of the models for the same price.

I dont feel like searching where the price estimate would be but I remember because I was budgeting to see how much I was gonna spend on minis this year.

So, do we have an inkling yet on when we should expect pre/orders to go up and what kind of prices we should expect for Dain for example?

No indication of prices, but the Iron Hills stuff (i.e. what we've seen so far of them) should be released at the end of this month.

More news from atya and pics of a second ogre!!
Quote:
The next months will all about the Iron Hill Dwarfes, Azogs forces for the Bo5A, and the source book for the last 2 hobbit movies, aswell as re-releases.
- The Hobbit sourcebook contains scenarios based on the Extended Cut.
- It will contain rules for all characters and units found there - even for yet unreleased stuff.
- The Dol Guldur Nazgûl will get rules, models and new titles. They are still the same guys as during the war of the ring, but different Incarnations, so they use different titles than the ringwraiths (since the ringwraith appereance was known by people, but the Dol Guldur by other ones, and not many connected them). Witchking and Khamul still have the same name though :P. They are too awesome^^
- Sometimes next year, the big project will be an new BRB with rules for the whole middle-earth range, including the name rebrand.
- After this, they want to focuse on sourcebooks again. They can use everything from the LotR books, the LoTR movies and the hobbit trilogy. No rights on the simarillion sadly, but they are allowed to write their own "lore" (like the Nazgûl names).
- Themes they can use for future sourcebooks are f.e.:
- The Last Alliance. The hobbit made some cool hints that are based on bigger Silmarillion/Lost Stories lore, so we may even get Thranduils dad getting eaten by dragons there :P
- The War of the Ring from the perspective of Thranduil, Dain and an old Bard. Dol Guldur will get manned again by Saurons forces, and heroes will die :P
- Angmar and Balins Expedition, with models based upon the hobbit movies
- Of course these are just examples of stuff they would like to do, nothing is decided yet.

Liking the look of the new miniatures for Gundabad, will definitely be expanding my force with those and of course the new ringwraiths. Better get saving then eh!

That's all good news, Morghot, but I'd like to see either a new starter set for when Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game is released, which is likely given that the rulebook in Escape from Goblin Town would be out of date OR I'd like to see "Start Collecting" boxes for the game similar to what AoS and 40k have currently.

and any news of what will happen with current miniatures being sold or manufactured by GW? Will they continue to sell them in their own site? Maybe doesnt look as a very important matter, but just imagine you want to get for example Dain, some Minas Tirith warriors, some paints and so... If they sell current line on GW site and Dain only on FW site, you will have to place two orders, and possibly twice per shipping.
Thats what is going to happen possibly as is happening with WH40K and WH.

Also we're getting free shipping on GW site for orders over 50 euros (or 40 GBP). On FW site we possibly will be needing to pay for shipping as only orders over 250 GBP are free wich should be a very large order.

A new starter box seems relatively unlikely; aside from the Laketown houses we won't see any new plastics in the forseeable future. They probably could combine some sets for Start Collecting boxes (a few armies out there have at least three types of plastic troops), but given the split in the range between GW and FW, I'm not sure how much emphasis will be on the GW releases (although the former Out of Production minis coming back have of course been from the old range and released through GW, so who knows).

I got the impression they're still working those things out, but for now, the old range will remain with GW, while actual new releases will be through Forge World's channels. I could envision a point where they combine the ranges fully, but there probably are all kinds of administrative aspects to consider (income and profits for the various departments, perhaps even licensing issues).

Ooof I hope they sell new stuff through GW because the shipping through forgeworld to the usa looks savage :(

In the end is having stores that doesnt carry what you want but can receieve the stuff you order over internet or having an store on UK that exclusively sells that stuff. Dont forget customs for those on USA or South America or even to EU if the Brexit ends as it looks it could end.
What im trying to say is that GW has a worlwide distribution while FW does not. Im delighted of having new miniatures along the way but i dont think that having them being made and distributed by FW will help the hobby.

With Forge World operating less as the specialist for massive monsters or small niche products, and more as the old Specialist Games department of Games Workshop, the distribution channels will likely change as well. Things like Bloodbowl will be available in all shops stocking GW products, and with a veritable host of other games making their comeback, it would surprise me if the retail systems weren't modified - assuming they want those games to have any chance at success.

Dwarf stuff looks great. Thankfully it looks like they will be 12 to a box and not 10 like some of the other kits for warriors. Just makes it better for a warband rules standpoint.

The Tauriel warband I'm currently painting up had to add in the 2 mirkwood captains booster as generic rangers just to fill the extra 2 missing spots the ranger box doesn't include. Glad to see the Iron Hill dwarfs won't have the same problem.
