The spell? Sure. The profile? Not really. Just compare her to the previous White Council profile (Protectress of Lothlórien) and it's clear that that spell (which is amazing and surprisingly easy to cast) is basically a free bonus. Compared to that other profile, she lost -1 D (no armour).. and that's it for negatives. She gained 3 Will and a free point of Will each turn, and although she can no longer cast Blinding Light, the effects of that spell are basically included in the Light of Eärendil rule (pretty much saving you a point of Might as well, as Blinding Light needs to be channelled in order for it to be an Exhaustion spell).

Against many forces, she's still the scary (literally) combat creature who makes orcs in a broken force run faster than Usain Bolt. Against wraiths (and there's plenty of those around), she's properly awesome, killing them left and right while protecting nearby friends from their spells. Properly awesome, and rightly so.

What do you guys think of the new Bard? Would you ever use him in a game? A pity he doesn't have a bow, but it makes sense because he didn't during the last battle. He seems alright, but maybe a bit expensive.

He gives a decent buff to Laketown milita, I don't think I wouldn't take them without Bard. Too bad his buffs don't affect Laketown Guard and Captains, after all some of them survived Smaug's attack and fought side by side Bard in the movie.
I also wish that the other Bard & Girion have access to the Windlance.

Thorin, Dwalin, Thranduil, Elrond and Legolas are all freaking monsters.

Prob you still haven't figured out but he's lost his Staff of Power. M/W/F cost 5 points each so that points difference values his Staff as 6 points of Will, considering that most games last more than 6 turns his staff's probably worth more than than so he might even be paying over the odds. I think he's a fairly costed profile though, it's an interesting decision to make when picking a force.

How so, are you privy to some insider information?

Did anyone else notice how Nori has lower defense than he should? All the dwarves have Heavy Dwarf Armor, which adds 3 to their defense, which is usually 5 to start off with. Some of them also have shields, which should increase their defense by 1. Compare Dori and Nori, Dori has 8D, but not shield, while Nori has 8D, but he also has a shield. Just kind of weird.

It seems to have been taken down. It was there yesterday for free.

Wow! that's odd... and the link that points to the free download is still there on the WD #46 page http://www.blacklibrary.com/whitedwarf/white-dwarf-issue-46.html Of course it now points to nothing!

If anybody missed downloading it, and they were to pvt message me here, I certainly wouldn't be able to help them out... 8)

Bard imo is still over costed.

His fight defense and some other things are average for that cost. His special rule is good and helps but lake town troopers with that only become average. He's pretty expensive and considering if you give him armor and a horse he pretty much costs as much as an Elrond variant I dunno. He's the type of guy you just have to keep out of combat with big heroes.

I'm sure he'd have no issues with bad troops though.

It's gone. Can anyone Dropbox it or email it? I assume seeing as it was free online that's okay to ask.

As it currently stands, the direct link still seems to work:
http://www.blacklibrary.com/Downloads/P ... TFA_UK.pdf

Get it while you can! :P

Thanks for the direct link. I realized that the download isn't any longer available through BlackLibrary and I started panicking. Thank you, thank you, and thank you once again.

I wonder if it will come back once the White Dwarf is longer on sale.

Good that the direct link still works though.

I think they might have pulled the PDF to bump the White Dwarf sales figures then they'll re-establish a link on the page for it once they have sold their stock through.
I got my physical copy in the mail, and it is definitely worth the WD cover price. It's not a flimsy add-on as they have done previously with Warhammer and 40k gubbins, it's got a proper cardstock cover and is stapled not glued.

If they don't re-add it to BL, and the direct link disappears like I said in an earlier post:

You can now download it from the Games Workshop site at http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/The ... e-Game-PDF (the physical version is also now for sale).

At the moment the download link on the page doesn’t appear to be working though.
